Scenery deliverer 2005 Print, canned badge on apron
Exhibition: "OPEN ACT", Tsukuba university hospital
I joined a volunteer program at a university hospital to support the work of the nurses and the lives of hospitalized patients. Hospitals are spaces that prioritize medical treatment, where tests are done at fixed times and meals are brought in. The room temperature is kept at a constant level. The scenery seen from the window is the same every day, and there are no encounters or changes that are part of daily life in the city. I wanted to create a change in the hospital environment by considering my body as a medium as I move back and forth between the inside and outside of the hospital. I took photos of my daily life, made them into badges, and decorated my work apron with them. The scenery reflected in the badges became a catalyst for conversation between nurses and patients, creating a small change.
